From a Simple Conversation to The Bushido of Dog

We're delighted to share that, as of last week, The Bushido of Dog by Carla Francis is now available at Inner Nature. We’re also incredibly grateful that some customers have already purchased a copy—thank you so much for your support.

The story behind this book is quite special to us. After the release of The Zen of Cat, for which Inner Nature had the pleasure of being interviewed, Carla and I had a casual conversation about what her next book might be. We thought that perhaps a book about dogs would be a wonderful idea.

Over time, we exchanged ideas here and there, and somehow the word "Bushido" naturally came to mind when we talked about dogs. It was a joy to contribute to the project, and seeing those conversations become a published book is something we feel truly honoured to be part of.

This time, Jun had the opportunity to explain the concept of "honour" through the wonderful Australian movie/story of Red Dog.

Having lived in Australia for nearly 30 years, Jun has felt an increasing desire to share the richness of Japanese culture in English and to build meaningful bridges between our two cultures.

In Zen of Cat, Jun explored the ancient Japanese concept of "Mottainai" within the broader philosophy of Zen, drawing from both Buddhism and Shinto.

In The Bushido of Dog, the focus shifts to Bushido—a word that is widely recognized in Japan, but not always interpreted in the same way. It has been a real privilege to help present this concept in English alongside Carla, whose own experiences living in Japan have given her a deep appreciation and understanding of Japanese culture.

Whether you love dogs, are interested in Japanese culture, or enjoyed The Zen of Cat, we warmly invite you to discover The Bushido of Dog. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we have.
